Winter activities in La Tania
1. Ski and snowboard
Renowned as one of the best value resorts from which to explore the truly incredible ski area of the Three Valleys, La Tania is a popular choice for skiers and snowboarders on a budget. Not only that, but the accommodation is never far from the slopes, so it’s very easy to get around.
La Tania itself one of the six villages of Courchevel. And Courchevel is part of the largest linked ski area on earth: the Three Valleys, so just a few metres from your chalet, you have 600km of ski runs to discover!
But if you’re a beginner or less confident intermediate, don’t let the size put you off, because La Tania is also a great choice for newbies and those building their intermediate skills, with some lovely greens and blues accessible on the Courchevel lift pass.
More advanced skiers enjoy La Tania’s Folyères piste, the red run Moretta and the hidden gem of a black run, Dou des Lanches.
La Tania’s Col de la Loze is a junction between the Courchevel and Meribel valleys, as well as a take-off point for paragliders and a sunny picnic spot with a huge bike installed, as a testament to the summer cyclists who battle the altitude and steep inclines to ride up to this mountain Col, which has featured in the Tour de France.
2. Spa and wellness
Want to splash out on a trip to the spa during your stay? Many of our La Tania guests indulge in a trip to Aquamotion in Courchevel Village.
It’s easy to get to on the bus, with its own bus stop right opposite the swimming pool.
There are different tariffs available, depending on whether you want to use the adults only spa and main pool, or just stay in the main pool, which has lane swimming, some slides, a diving pool, an outdoor pool with a lazy river, or the indoor area with power jets and bubbles. There’s even a little slide and fun area for smaller kids.
The spa area is for adults aged 18 and over, and has indoor and outdoor pools, hammams, sauna, plunge pool and a saltwater zone. Massages and beauty treatments are also available, such as nailcare, hot stones massage, exfoliating massage, or deep tissue massage.
Prefer to have a massage in the comfort of your own chalet? We have a list of local masseurs who can offer an in-chalet visit, contact us in the office for more information.
A range of massages is available at Courchevel’s Aquamotion, or have a massage in the comfort of your own chalet.
3. Husky sledding
If you’re a dog lover, channel your inner musher and take a husky sled adventure, it’s a whole new way to experience the mountains!
Your driver will take you and a partner (max two people per sled) on a journey through the forest, towed by a team of four-legged friends.

Gourmet Dining
Dine with the (Michelin) stars in Courchevel!
In total there are ten stars awarded to just six restaurants here in the Courchevel Valley, and La Tania has its very own: the well-established Le Farcon.
A delightful place to dine, Le Farcon’s chef, Julien Machet, is a local restaurateur who showcases the very best Savoyard produce.
The Michelin star was awarded in 2006, and Machet has worked hard to maintain his rating. Menus change according to the season, as he experiments with interesting flavour combinations and textures. There are three tasting menus to suit different budgets – all are ‘surprise’ but of course the team take care to look after their customers and adapt according to dietary requirements. The most elaborate menu is priced at €180pp (in 2024) and features nine courses.
You could also enjoy a meal in his brasserie, Bistrot Machet, also in La Tania. See more about Courchevel dining on our restaurant recommendations page.

Snowshoeing Trails
Don’t miss an opportunity to get back to nature during your mountain holiday.
A peaceful snowshoe walk in the La Tania forest is reinvigorating and feels like a real adventure as you see a side to the mountains that skiers and snowboarders may well miss.
To go on a snowshoe walk, start by hiring showshoes from a local ski hire shop, grab a walking map from the Tourist Office (or book a guide if you want a more adventurous walk), and off you go.
Don’t forget a camera to document your magical journey into the ancient alpine forest.
Walking in fresh, deep snow is a truly magical experience you can enjoy in La Tania.
Ski Touring
Ski touring is becoming more and more popular as skiers want to try something new or get some serious exercise.
To try ski touring, you need specialist equipment: skis with touring bindings (you might be able to wear your own boots, depending on the bindings), and skins which stick to the bottom of the skis and enable you to slide UP the mountain. You can hire this equipment from some specialist hire shops in Courchevel, we’d recommend Camp de Base in Le Forum in 1850.
We’d definitely recommend booking a guide to try this activity, who will be able to advise on the best places according to snow conditions and your ski level, as well as give tips to help you get the right technique.
In return for your hard work, you could descend in pure, untouched powder snow – the dream! You do need a certain level of fitness to try ski touring – you’ll be “earning your turns”, as they say… Ideal for people who are training for runs or cycling during the summer.
