Budget skiing: best snack spots in the Three Valleys
Always dreamt of skiing the Three Valleys but need to stick to a budget on the hill? Let us share our top tips for the best snack bars to keep your lunchtime spending to a minimum!
When it comes to sticking to your ski holiday budget, a catered ski holiday can really help you to avoid spending extra cash: your breakfast is included in the price, plus and evening meals are covered on six days when you stay in a Ski Magic catered chalet. Wine is also included at mealtimes, and there will even be a snack and hot drinks waiting for you on your return from the slopes.
So that just leaves you with lunchtime and perhaps some drinks at apres-ski or after dinner, which is a lot easier to budget for when it comes to holiday planning.
If you tuck in to your chalet breakfast chances are you could get away with skipping lunch altogether! Although we do recommend that you always carry water and some snacks when you’re on the mountain.
But if skiing makes you hungry then here are our top tips on the best snack bars in the Three Valleys:
Best snack bars in the Three Valleys
Looking for a quick bit between ski runs? Whilst the Three Valleys has a pretty amazing selection of restaurants, you’ll also find that there are lots of snack bars for anyone on a smaller budget.

What to choose at a mountain restaurant snack bar?
Our recommendations usually serve affordable things like chips, hot dogs, paninis, soup or burgers. You might find that some places offer deals, eg. a burger and a drink. Some places will also serve French dishes such as a croque monsieur (a hot ham and cheese sandwich with bechamel sauce).
You might also find crepes (pancakes) and gaufres (waffles) which make a good option for a cheap and cheerful snack to refuel, if you are looking for a sweet option.
Some Three Valleys snack bars have informal places to sit and eat just outside, whilst others might be very small and don’t have seating.
We can’t provide prices as they change from season to season, but when making these recommendations, we have looked for places which offer reasonably priced sarnies, chips and soup etc.
- Folie Douce self-service bar (Meribel): Ask your Ski Magic chalet host for one of our vouchers and make the most of the legendary ambience of the Folie Douce!
- Le Bouc Blanc (La Tania): Located at the top of the La Tania bubble, it has a separate snack bar hatch (in addition to the main restaurant) for speedy, reasonably priced items like burgers, fries, hot dogs and paninis.
- Bistro Machet Burger Bar (La Tania): Grab a burger and a can of pop and take a seat on the terrace. Located above the main restaurant, access via the snow front in La Tania.
- Le Rond Point Snack Bar (Méribel): The popular self-service snack bar on the terrace sells quick, reasonably priced things to eat including noodles.
- Polar Café (Courchevel 1850): Located in the Croisette building on the snowfront in Courchevel 1850, this busy spot serves sandwiches, soups, and cakes. Hot chocolate is reasonably priced too.
- Le Tigre (Courchevel Moriond): Nice sunny spot on the snowfront with a cafe style menu including quiche and croque monsieur (see pic below!)
- La Sitelle (Meribel Mottaret): Grab a croque monsieur, burger or hot dog at the snack bar and take a seat on the deckchairs. Near the snow park.
- Chrismaran (Meribel Mottaret): beer and chips in the sunshine? Quick service at this cheap and cheerful bar, or a takeaway panini from the snack bar on the snowfront make it a great little pitstop.
- Chez Bif (Meribel Mottaret): SUCH good burgers! Expect to queue as it’s quite popular. A takeaway spot tucked away by the supermarket in Mottaret (also a good option for a drink or snack)
- Chalet de la Masse (Belleville Valley): Check out the food truck at this cute little restaurant on the Piste des Vallons.
- Pub Le Ski Lodge (La Tania): Classic pub grub menu and snacks.
- Chalet du Sunny (Les Menuires): We’re big fans of the croque monsieur! Take the Sunny Express chair.
- Cabane des Skieurs (Courchevel 1850): At the area at the top of Verdons/bottom of Vizelle, head through the doorway to the passage into the Saulire cable car and you’ll find a small snack bar with paninis, chips, sandwiches and soup. On a cold day you can eat in the picnic room.
Et voila, there are our Ski Magic insider’s top tips for the best places to get a cheap and cheerful snack whilst you’re exploring the slopes of the Three Valleys. Hope you find it useful!
