Dinner party style cooking in your half-board ski chalet
Half-board/catered chalet service
A half-board (or “catered”) chalet holiday is ideal for people who want to concentrate on having fun and making the most of their time on the slopes.
And it’s more than just a simple ‘half-board’ – when you choose one of our ski chalets, breakfast and afternoon tea is included every day, with meals provided for you on six evenings, leaving you free to sample a local restaurant or takeaway on one evening.
Children are well looked after too! Upon request, your hosts can prepare and serve a Children’s Tea for any under-12s. Kids can expect home-cooked favourites and delicious puddings… (See more on Family Skiing)
“We had a brilliant trip with Ski Magic at Chalet Loden, all three families really enjoyed it. The hosts, Indie and Sophie, were brilliant, really helpful – the perfect combination of professionalism and friendliness – and the food was excellent.”
– Chalet Loden, Meribel
“I would like to make special mention of Tatiana. I have been on many, many chalet holidays over the years and she is up there among the best Chalet hosts I have ever encountered.”
– Matisse Bas 2022
What to expect…
Breakfast
The smell of coffee in the morning will lure you to the breakfast table where you’ll find fresh baguettes, jams and butter alongside yoghurts, cereals, fruit juice and English tea every day.
A hearty cooked breakfast option is provided on four mornings by our team. On the self-service mornings, fresh croissants and pain au chocolats will be delivered with your morning baguettes.
If you want to keep on top of your 5-a-day, there’s a fruit bowl available – help yourself!
Lunchtime
Lunch service isn’t included in our chalets (you’ll be out on the slopes!) but if you don’t want to eat in a mountain restaurant or snack bar, grab a takeaway sandwich or snack from a supermarket, boulangerie or deli in resort, and eat it on the mountain. There are lots of picnic benches dotted around the Three Valleys, but if you prefer to eat inside, there are also warm picnic rooms:
- Top of Verdons (Courchevel 1850)
- Top of Ariondaz (Courchevel 1650)
- Bottom of Saulire Express (Meribel)
You’ll also see little huts around resort, including the triangular “nids” eg. near Col de la Loze, or at the top of Pyramides drag, where you can sit down under a shelter to eat.
Afternoon tea
After whizzing around the mountain all day, you might be a little peckish when you return to the chalet, and certainly deserving of a treat!
You’ll find fresh baguettes, butter and jams as well as something sweet to nibble such as biscuits or sliced cake.
Help yourselves to a cup of proper English tea or filter coffee. Everything will be laid out on the table ready and waiting for you to get stuck in (just make sure you leave enough for your friends!)
Evening meals
Our chalet hosts will do all the hard work for you so you can make your most of your time of the slopes. They will prepare, cook and serve a delicious dinner-party style evening meal on five evenings during your stay, so that you can relax around the table and not have to lift a finger!
Unlimited wine (choice of red, white and rosé) is served through the meal, and you’ll finish with coffees and teas in the sitting room whilst your host/s take care of the washing up!
Raclette night
On one evening during the week, your hosts will leave everything you need for a traditional ‘raclette’ – an indulgent alpine treat that no ski holiday should be without! You’ll have all the equipment and ingredients – raclette cheese, sliced meats, salad, potatoes (and wine!) – for a party, Savoyard style! Dessert will also be left for you and your hosts will show you how the machine works in advance. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions about this service.

For children
For our youngest guests we provide a hearty and healthy earlier meal on five evenings so that the grown-ups can relax during their meal later in the evening.
The menu covers family favourites with the aim of providing a few of those all-important five-a-day (as well as some treats for dessert!) On Raclette Night children are welcome to join in the fun, or our hosts can leave something easy to serve if you prefer.
If your child has any special dietary requirement then do please let us know before you arrive. Children’s tea is served with a glass of milk, fruit juice or our lovely mountain water.
For younger babies, our hosts can whizz up some fruit or vegetables, just let us know in advance. Formula milk and jars of baby food are available in our local supermarket.
Dietary requirements
We’re happy to cater for vegetarians as well as our guests with allergies and intolerances at no extra cost.
We do ask that you let us know as much information as possible prior to your arrival so that we can make sure that our hosts can adapt their menu accordingly, which you can do via direct email to our office, or through our online booking system.
Hosts’ Day Off
Our chalet hosts have time off mid-week. On two mornings you’ll have bread delivered to the chalet and can help yourself to breakfast (your host will show you where to find everything). They’ll also leave your afternoon tea laid out and ready to help yourselves to upon your return.
On one evening we provide all you need for a Raclette Night (see above), and on one you will have the opportunity to visit a local restaurant or order a takeaway meal. In La Tania and Le Praz we have everything from pizzerias to Michelin-star dining for you to choose from.
Your hosts will therefore be available at your chalet for five mornings and five evenings of your week’s stay.
To drink
To accompany your meal, we’ve picked some lovely easy-drinking red and white wine, which is served throughout dinner.
Our chalets have an honesty bar with beers and mixers/soft drinks as well as some snacks in case you feel peckish. You’re more than welcome to bring your own drinks and spirits into the chalet, via ‘Duty Free’ or the local supermarket.
