Surrounded by majestic mountains, the lake is a second home for thrill-seekers: tandem paragliding, high-ropes in the forest, canyoning, wakeboarding… Adrenalin junkies will not be bored!

Cycling of all kinds is possible around Annecy: hire some city bikes and enjoy the scenery and villages via the smooth cycle tracks, head up into the hills for mountain biking, or try road cycling; there’s a choice of long, flat bike paths and climbs of all levels around the area.

Shopping & culture

The cobbled streets of the old town of Annecy are gorgeous spots for window shopping: clothes, accessories, homeware, art galleries and ceramics are to be found around the marketplace and canal area. It’s hard to resist indulging in an ice-cream or a crepe from one of the many cafes dotted in the winding lanes and there are lots of possibilities for dining and people-watching.

There are several chateaux and museums around the area. Main cultural highlights include summer fireworks and film festivals and there are regular sporting events such as running, cycling and lake swimming.

Relaxation

The sparkling blue water of Lake Annecy – one of the top 5 cleanest lakes in europe – is like a huge natural swimming pool. Boating, floating and bathing in the pristine waters surrounded by magnificent mountains is a heavenly way to unwind. Summer temperatures are hot but not excessive, and the water temperature is absolutely perfect. Walking and hiking in the mountains and forests is a beautiful way to capture every fabulous angle of Lake Annecy on camera, and there are lots of day trips within an hour’s drive of the cabin.
