The Best Freestyle Videos Ever Made

It’s not just kids that can’t wait for December to start… For anyone excited about the ski season, November drags on forever, but watching videos of the snow is almost as good, so here are our favourite freestyle/freeride videos by skiers and snowboarders:

‘The Greatest Ski Movie . . . EVER!” is a classic ski video from 2008 featuring the late, great Shane McConkey before he died in a base jump accident shortly afterwards.

Attack of La Niña – what a line-up!

With Mark Abma, Ingrid Backstrom, Sean Pettit, James Heim, Colby West… you know you’re in for a good ride. Matchstick Productions pulled it out of the bag for this 2011 video which has become an absolute classic.

Red Bull Media House, in collaboration with MSP Films, presents ‘DAYS OF MY YOUTH’, a film that looks into a skier’s lifelong passion for the sport. The film exposes the joys and struggles associated with a lifestyle built around skiing.

One of those days – Candide Thovex

In case there’s anyone out there that hasn’t seen a Candide Thovex film, here’s one of his best – One of those days 3. CNN interviewed Thovex who commented that jumping over the rotating blades of a helicopter was “definitely kind of scary. You don’t want to finish like a ham.”

Markus Eder  ‘The best skier you’ve never heard of’

Maybe you have heard of him, but if not, this Italian skier is definitely one to watch… Here’s his ‘Ultimate Run’ which see him ski through mountain tunnels, snowy villages, a mining museum and a castle. And it’s beautifully shot by the team the brilliantly-named Legs of Steel production company.

Biking on snow – does this count?

Austrian biker and stuntman Fabio Wibmer takes to the pistes and tries to escape the police in this crazy film, shot in Saalbach Hinterglemm.

Eric Hjorleifson “The Way I See It”

Eric Hjorleifson is a professional freeskier who contributes annually to ‘ski movies’ made by the film company Matchstick Productions. This video is a testimony to his amazing skills on the snow.

Little ski kids do HUGE jumps and tricks in terrain park

Two brothers Max (10 yrs old) and Hugo (8 yrs old) prove they are going to be future stars when they show off some tricks in a terrain park. They hit the rails, boxes and jumps with 40 ft kickers including 360, switch and grabs.
